Bootle Streets - Metropole Theatre - opened March 1911
It saw many stars of the day such as Charlie Chaplin, Gracie
Fields, Issy Bonn and Arthur Tracy. It was sadly destroyed during the
May Blitz.
It was situated at 312 Stanley Road. It was converted to a Cine Variety
in 1931 + then converted back to a Theatre in 1934. There was a grand
gala re-opening on 5th of May 1941 presumably as the cinema again, but
it was destroyed in an air raid two days later.
