Welcome aboard!
My brother in law was in 238 RCT TA in the late 70's. Would that be any use to you? If so I'll ask him if he's got any pics.
My ex wife's family were good friends of Jack & Kitty Totty the caretakers of the barracks - and used to have all their family parties in the barracks (my own wedding in Nov 77 included) - alas they are al long gone now, Jack, Kitty and the barracks!.

My Dad was caretaker there until about 1963 and we lived in the house on the left side as you looked at the main building from the road. I have somewhere, some photos of the barracks including some of John McNally of the Searchers who held his wedding reception in the Officers Mess in the early 60s. There is a painting in Bootle Town Hall of some troops marching out of the barracks, I've photographed that but will have to search for it. Let you know.

I was in the Cadets there in 1966, but I don't have any pics.
My Brother David was also there, he was a cpl. I remember a John Meehan being a sgt, and a Capt Mulcahy?.

an old workmate went to park street for the t.a , when we saw all the kit he got that was just what was needed for spending winter nights fishing on the dock wall we joined.
when we got told they issue two sets of kit i left and me mate stayed and got us a set each.
army issue long johns certainly kept the chill away for the cod run.

Eddy, Yes that was him.
We must have been there about the same time.
Do you remember my brother, Cpl David Deegan?
He went on and joined the Scots Guards.

I was a cadet with the 40th RTR at Park Street for about two years around 1948.
I joined because we got a free uniform so I had something to wear.
Our summer camp was at Walney Island, Barrow -in-Furness and it was great as the local girls thought we were real soldiers.
The Officer in Charge at that time was a Captain Toby and he had only one eye - at least we thought so as he always wore a patch over the other.
Captain Arthur Mulcahey was just a Sergeant Major then.
He was always disappointed that his leg problem had prevented him from joining the Regulars or the TA so made do with being involved in the cadets.
He ran the cadets soccer team and, if anyone is interested in ancient history, I have a photo of that team with Arthur on it.
My god we were a scruffy lot.
We always knew him as Mr MOKAY till he told us how to spell his name.
I have corresponded a lot with Frank on the site but only now have realised we may have met before in an earlier life - but then again maybe he is just a lad who came years after me.???
