Church Road, Litherland before the dual carriageway.

It's like walking through a garden wandering throughout the length of the road back then... :)

Much less traffic back then too of course.

It's mad isn't it Bernie.

All the truck drivers would never believe it used to look like this there before you got to the hill at the end of the road cascading downwards towards the docks.

More pickies... from the old days of gardens travelling along Church Road, Litherland...

A wonderful road back then with lovely gardens and no trucks.

Live just off there now. Thank god for sites like this and others about the area showing what Church Road was like. A roundabout at the junction of Hawthorne Road and Church Road by the White House pub and traffic lights at the junction of Orrell Road and School Lane as it was only a 2 lane road then.
The old shops and banks on both sides now long gone. Is that photo no 3 the old annex building to Hugh Baird? Sure they had one there but it's new houses now?

Now it's a mess and a nightmare with the constant traffic and transport down to the docks.

Jumpers for goalposts, marvellous! It were all fields round 'ere when I were lad...

Let's rewind back in time to the 1930s.

This is how it looked travelling along the road back then.

This old photo was taken before anything actually existed on the road entering Bootle.

Looking into Bootle? Is this before the 30's when most of the houses either side went up? Hard to place it?

Hiya.

I think this may have been taken more towards the Dunnings Bridge Road area.

I'm unsure which direction it was taken, it's very old.
