I worked in ryders milk1961/2 aintree road lived in Balfour road was Ryders garage Knowsley road cos there was a motor mechanic shop part run by old man ryder in aintree road never new ??

Jones Dairy mentioned in this article belonged to my grandad and dad, I lived there for a short time until it was destroyed May 1941.
Lived Linacre Lane, Trinity Road & Knowsley Road.

Went once with my dad one Sunday morning, after mass :) . Through the Strand gates, no problem.
Went on board the Demodocus (Holt Line), then on to the dockers' canteen. I'd have been 8 or 9. It would be a social services job now. :)

Fascinating article.......it must have been awesome to witness the R100 & the 'Graf Zeppelin' pass over Bootle......maybe we were lucky the R101 never visited us in 1930.(!)

Enclose a piece on the R101 if you're feeling nerdy....it's 20mins ish but has amazing footage.....(just grin & bear the ads.)

Hard to comprehend that the famous 'Hindenburg' disaster was (7) years later.
