I'd be interested in anything you could find on FORD ATHLETIC which was based in Cooksons.
Figure late 50s/ early 60s.
There is a photo on here somewhere, they were a good side, sometime run by my Dad.

1956/57 Division 2 Finished 2/16. Liverpool Cup Semi-Finalists, beaten by Rea United 3 - 0 at Bootle Stadium.
1957/58 Division 1 Finished 6/14. Liverpool County FA Junior Cup Semi Finalists, beaten 1 - 0 by Rylands at Holly Park, Garston.
1958/59 Division 1 Finished 3/10. Harwood Benevolent Cup Winners, beating Waterloo Ramblers 3 - 2 at Bootle Stadium.
Club Secrearies. J. Rooney, Musker Drive. T. Tully, Buckfast Close. J. Edwards, St Margaret's Grove.

On Wednesday November 13 1957, Ford Athletic held a meeting at Tailor's Arms to arrange a show in aid of the widow of
Billy Hodge, who was killed in a motorcycle accident.
Below is a photo of Rea United and Ford Celtic before the Liverpool Cup Final, Bootle Times May 2 1958.
A few of the Celtic players had also been involved with Ford Athletic.

I remember many of those Ford Athletic names and the Cup win.
The J. Edwards ( Secretary ) was my Dad , he actually , managed, coached, organised, ran on with the cold sponge and provided Oxo at half time, meanwhile Mum washed the kit in the Dolly Tub.
The death of Billy Hodges devastated the team, he was an outstanding player and very popular man.

thanks dan , now wondering if theres anyone who played for bensons that year who might still be with us , they would be aged mid 80s and up now

Found this photo on the entertainments page of the Bootle Times, November 26 1954.
Chadburns were very late entrants in Division 1 for the 1954/55 season.
Other players involved; Harold Westhead (GK). Donald Courtney. Tommy Done.
They only played this one season in the JOC, during this period.
