Hi Bob,

The lad in the piccy you posted below is the spitting image of my mates son Pete Riley (Pete Riley Jnr) both musicians and Bootle lads.

Young Pete was my sisters daughters boyfriend.

For comparison, you can see the likeness in Peters video for their band Shamona below.

Not spoken to Pete for a while however we are still in touch on Facebook.

If it isn't Pete in the pic he defo has a doppelgänger lookalike :)

Some pieces on the players, teams and history of amateur football in Bootle, and its surrounds, from the turn of the last century, and possibly a bit before.

Thanks Bob. The posts take a bit longer to set up. The Memory Lane thread was handy. That post took a couple of weeks to get right.
Still lots of material to go at, but they will take a while.

Here's a quickie from the Bootle Times of February 17 1961.
Note the subtle difference between a completely flooded pitch and a flooded pitch.

Dan Some the JOC lads say great to see you back.

I remember Orrell Pleasure use to go up there to watch my brother playing on the pitches remember all the mud water on the pitches as well, l played a couple of games on them got 10 stitches in the elbow from the peace of metal in the mud. Still got the scare to this day.
