The Holy Name Church team from Fazakerley.

No? Keep looking. When you give up (you will) scroll down

I think this photograph was posted several years ago in this thread and it prompted
discussion about where it was taken.
My dad, John Carey, is on the back row - he didn't have a kit on as he missed the final at Goodison through injury.
Anyway, he informs me that it was taken at Belling and Lee which was a factory on Dunnings Bridge Road on the opposite side of The Park Hotel

Bobby
He is sixth from the right on the back row between the goalie (Stevie Porter ?) and his good mate, Jackie Jones.
He has fond memories of the team - Charlie Berry, Alec Riley, the Porters and Quadrios to name a few.
Thank you for your interest.
Stay safe

Hi,
Sorry about the delay i was looking for a reply in my email not this Forum, apologies.

The School photo on Page 77 is my old School Team taken in 1970. we were all about 14 Years of age, most of use were born in 1956 think it was at Long Lane Football pitches off Walton Hall Avenue.

We were playing in a Cup Final , i think against St Martins , we won 4-3.

The team is as follows, Back row left to right:
Henry Fearns (sadly passed away), Eddie Crowe, Alby Oates, Alec Crowe, John Lindsay, and Terry Murphy.

Front row, left to Right,

Steve Riley, Chris Vallance, Tony McCabe, (Capt) Tony Bennett, Jimmy Dunne and Tony McVey.

Our Teacher was Mr Locke who recorded the game on a cine camera. We lost touch with him, love to the see that game again.

Our star player was Jimmy Dunn, he went on to play for Liverpool boys.

Considering we had only about 40 lads in the 4th year we had a really good team. We played in another final that year and beat St Francis Xaviers, we were the real underdogs against a real good team but we beat them , thanks manly to out Star man and Man of Match Jimmy Dunn getting a hat trick.

Good Times.

This School Team photo was taken in 1970. We were all about 14 Years of age; most of us were born in 1956.
I think it was at Long Lane Football pitches off Walton Hall Avenue.

We were playing in the Catholic Schools league Play-off, It was against St Martin’s from Dingle, we were 3-0 down and won 4-3 with a goal 5 minutes from time by Jimmy Dunne.

Our Sports Teacher was Mr Locke recorded the game on a cine camera. When we left school the year layer we lost touch with him, love to the see that game again.

Our star player was Jimmy Dunn; Jimmy went on to play for Liverpool boys.

Considering we had only about 40 lads in year 4 we had a really good team. We played in another final that year and beat St Francis Xaviers at Penny Lane playing fields. We were the real underdogs against a really good team, i seem to remember quite a lot of their team were with Liverpool Boys, but we beat them, thanks mainly to out Star man and Man of Match Jimmy Dunn, i think he got a hat trick. ?

Good Times, great memories.
