The Google maps photo was taken with a wide angle lensed camera, which I think has distorted the picture, to make Christ Church appear further away.

Good morning Boss, Hope you and yours are safe and well. I have been studying this picture of the M6 since it
appeared last week, and even with my many years of up and down the motorway en route to and from Cumbria
and Scotland, I cant quite pinpoint the spot. I think you are parked on the humps on the northbound M6, but I am
not certain. Give us a clue. :D

A little while back I mentioned that dreadful day when that Barsteward from Rowrah murdered all those people,
and another unusual occurrence came to mind, the major flooding in your part of West Cumbria, when the town
of Cockermouth was totally flooded, and a Cumbria Police Officer lost his life when a bridge collapsed beneath
him and his car. For quite a while afterwards, I had to do several detours with my lorry, depending on which places
I had to deliver to. Around that time, and on a lighter note, a daft mate of mine said he had been watching the
weather forecast on the television, the edition where the presenter has also a person who does Sign Language
beside him for the Deaf and Hard of hearing viewers, and he wondered how the Signer would sign " Cockermouth "

Cheers, Ray.

It's northbound between junctions 37 and 38. ;) I knew the police officer very well, his name was Bill Barker, I booked a few of his prisoners into custody when I worked as a detention officer for Cumbria police. ;)

Father Christmas gave me a jigsaw in there. Mum and Dad were waiting outside to collect me and all the other kids streamed out - but not me. They went in to look for me and there I was, all on my own, happily doing my jigsaw.

Hi folks, my mum was brought up in Copy Lane and when clearing her room I found this, just think it’s an amazing piece of history. I live in Scotland as did she latterly, but I thought your site might be the best place to share it? Hope that’s ok, I have lots of pics 😀 Best wishes
Sally

Two great pictures Joe. For those who are too young to remember these cars, they are,
Picture 1 from left to right, Austin Somerset.... Morris, Series E....Ford Prefect....Hillman Tourer ( I think )….2 Ford 10cwt vans.

Picture 2 from left to right, Vauxhall Victor Estate....Triumph Herald....Ford Thames 10/12cwt van.

Cheers, Ray.

You are spot on with your dates Paul.

When the S4 was introduced it ran between Freshfield Grapes Hotel to Waterloo Interchange extended to Skelhorne Street at peak hour times. It ran in tandem with the long-established S2 Southport- Skelhorne Street. S2 was withdrawn in October 1978, replaced by S5 Freshfield Station- Skelhorne Street and S4 was extended permanently into town too. S5 was withdrawn in the mid-80s, and S4 became 284.
