Some memories Dan when i played for the corpy
we got battered every week
then i played for william ross we got battered every week
times change and when we changed to the linacre
done well
the worst thing that happened was the final at bootle stadium
think it was
against St Johns just before the kick off the joc committie
informed us are goalie was cup tied which was untrue he had played for us in all the rounds
another team used his name as a ringer
we could not prove on the night so bobby thompson are winger went in goal
sad night we got beat

Fruit Packers & Distributors was FPD , Dan.
I played against them several times, one a memorable 4-4 draw in which I scored all our goals.
BCLB ( Church Lads Brigade ) were always a an easy beat, the Huddersfield of the league.
Don’t know OPS.
Cheers Ken

True Ken we all had to start
F P D from kirby where a rough crew we played them on
the saterday in the league and got beat 2 ,1
we where a lot younger and the next week we played them in the final of the league cup
thinking we where a easy win we trounced them 3 nil
was it silcocks ground orrell memory going
after the final whistle this big guy from the team took a butt at me
and only for my old fella stepping in black belt
stopped him in his tracks
great days

Dan, OPS. Ocean Port Services? I recall that acronym from when my dad was a docker. They might have been a dock team.Dan wrote:Apologies Bob and Ken.
There's a couple of teams in tne next few seasons- FPD, OPS(North) and Bootle CLBR.
Any ideas?
Regards
Dan

Watching game last night my Missus said she saw me score a similar goal to what VVD scored ( header from a corner )
I said “ No , I jumped much higher”
She said “ Really, well jump up and get me another G&T”
