Ahhh...such memories. The Beddie Road school photo shows why I missed out on so much early education but it was great news for kids at the time.

I was seven and recollect it clearly but can't recall any fear. All our parents were so brave and resolute to have pulled through that sad time.

Thanks Glossy.

The Bungalows in the centre of the row on Aintree Road were also badly damaged there is a picture or two of them, I've got it somewhere i'll try and find it and post it on here. That's why they are slightly different than the others.
Born in Bootle 1960 lived on Bailey Drive then the old roan.

Hi
No 124 Benedict Street was the home to my Great Grandparents my Great Grandfather died in 1938 but my Great Grandmother and her daughter my Aunt Emily were in the house the time the bomb hit.

Emily, her and her mother hid under the stairs and she recalled their two canaries died, Great Gran died in 1941 January she never really recovered from the shock.

This is a photo of Benedict St c1926 with Emily and her brother Stanley on the right.

Brilliant photos Colette, I wish I had more old photos of my past family, was a awful time our past families went through, today, the young ones have no idea, not their fault though, I was fortunate to have just missed the bombing etc.

I have used this subject to post some photographs I took of the Bomber Command Memorial in London last weekend , it is a reminder of the 55,000 + Bomber Command aircrew who paid the ultimate sacrifice .
