Hi Bob, My Dad ran Ford Athletic, out of Cooksons in 60's . Someone on here sent me a photocopy pic of some of their greats, Billy Hodges (RIP), Tommy Tully etc. I 've tried to find it but if that good soul could post it here it would be boss. :) Ken

I played in that that match, also in the final at Bootle Stadium, we lost 2-1 and was robbed, Jimmy Cannell scored our goal a great header, we should never have lost that game.

He's second from the left Bob. I played with him and their Dave for the English Electric, both good players. Davey being the last on the right of the front row.

No cant see me on any photos would love to have a look if anyone got photos of me. Every Saturday would start off drinking in Marsh Lane then over to the Mayflower then the strand club. Normally end up with conch and bull Sheridan, but then again drank a lot in the Talbot in derby road then moorfields a lot of the time down the norseman till I got barred for life. Football wise played for the Merton to look after the young lads on Liverpool and evertons books, even though I was only young myself, Talbot with all the lads from church street, the brunny, Borthwicks and Sandown, Metal Box and was at Marine for a few months but hated it

Yeah played 5 a side for the brunny but used to go to bootle south, ym, a lot of 5 a side comps were in the Salesian college, I think playing in the 5 a side all the games were played at the ym, I played table tennis for the brunny as well, I was only 15/16 at Marine and I just didn't fit in Johnny King was there and Crosby was the keeper I think, this was just before they all went to usa to play. Before we played in teams every sunday a big group of lads from church street would come and play lads off marsh lane we played in st Joans playground

Ahhh memories :D I played for the Brunny too Hilly and remember playing at Bootle South and the YMCA also. I grew up learning my footy in St Joans school yard. I went to Germany representing Liverpool Boys Association at footy and Phil Smallbone represented them in Table Tennis. I also went on to play for Lancashire Boys. Me and seamus Brady were at LFC for a while while Alex Boulton was at Everton. Girls entered my life and that was the end of that. :D

Davy Law rings a bell, only played with Bobby Owens at school, I knew a Paul Monoghan in Devon but never remember him playing football, I first started playing at 15 and most of the lads were a lot older like Billy Knowles, Jimmy Cannell etc, I played for the Talbot for a short time, being honest we were a team of piss heads. I remember once playing for the Eden vale at Buckley Hill in some Liverpool cup game we were 3-0 then started taking it easy they come back to 4-3 with 10 minutes to go, I moaned and moaned at the ref that I couldn't see it was to dark, he abandoned the game and we hammered them in the replay, I remember playing against Brian Bromilow when I was 16 or 17 I thought I did well against him but they were a good side.

Another lad who played in the same Metal Box team was Willy Doyle I think he became the youngest ever captain of skem, his dad was a right prick
