Teacher Mr. Mike Haughton became Headmaster of St.Jeromes Formby. Gave my children and hundreds of others the best start in life. a lovely man and Teddy Boy :D ,
The kids all loved and respected him. He sadly passed away a few years ago...Thanks for showing the photo Dan.

I went to the annexe for two years, and more times than not, the lads in the photos would stay back and play football in the yard until 5 or 6 o'clock.
Mr' Haughton always stayed back with us and joined in. I hope he enjoyed it as much as we did.

Keith posted the photo below, a couple of years ago, on Rupert Murdoch's Bootle boy done good thread. No wonder I missed it.

The huts nearest to the camera were the Holy Ghost Annexe from the early 60's to the 70's.

Two wooden nissen huts, running parallel to the golf course cinder path, housed four classrooms.(3A/3B and 4A/4B).

The three buildings, at right angles to the camera, were brick built affairs housing more classrooms, and the assembly hall/canteen.

The hut to the right of the three buildings was the toilets, always referred to as "the bogs", and beyond can be seen a corner of the playground.

We'd play football in the playground or on the bit of grass on the left of the plot.

It's a very early picture, as throughout the 60's the metal goalposts for the two pitches on the land running along Sefton Moss Lane were left

standing all year round.

Thanks Dan.
I went to the other school just next door. Do you remember that there was a gate separating the two school playgrounds?
The caretaker lived in the cottage on the other side of the road. I remember at some point The cottage being irreparably damaged by a burst pipes.
When the caretaker moved out we use to play war in it.
Wonder what the early history of the cottage was ?
The furthest building right in the photo is i believe an air raid shelter.

I remember being chased by a German shepherd dog that lived in the cottage on Sefton Moss Lane.

Must have been about 1960.

I started going to the annexe in September 1961. By then the cottage was deserted.

The caretaker, Mr Molloy and his family, lived in a brick built one storey building to the right of the two huts bordering the cinder path.

Loved the smell of coal burning, from the stoves in the classrooms. Wouldn't be allowed now.

Can't ever remember being cold in those huts.

The Sterrix Lane School prefabs are behind, in the cricket and football photos above.

Far swankier than our huts, which would have been twenty years old..

The Holy Spirit club shut down a few months ago, and I think the site has been sold.

I believe the site that the Holy Spirit church stands on is now, or about to be, put up for sale .

Thought I'd post these photos in the one place.
