Hi folks.
A few of you know, but it's with a very heavy heart that I have to tell you of the passing of our friend and mate Bernie Rushworth.
Sadly After a short illness Bernie died on Sunday afternoon, 1st December 2024.
I know that you will all agree, that Bernie, through the Bootle Forum, became a friend to us all.
Bern was passionate about the forum and kept us entertained with all his topics and posts.
Bern was a gentleman, and his dry and sometimes wicked sense of humour, was just the very best.
His knowledge of LFC, music and Bootle, were unsurpassed.
Dare I say, Bootle Forum will never be the same again, without the input of "our" Bernie.

I know that you will join me in sending condolences and love to Berns wife Barb, his lovely daughter Holly and all of his lovely family.
YNWA.

Barb has asked me to post details of the funeral arrangements, as follows.

Hi, it's Barb, arrangements for Bern.
Thursday 19th December 10.30 St. Benets Church copy Lane L30 7PF, then Anfield Crem at midday Priory Rd L4 2SL, followed by celebration of his life . St. Benets Club, Chapel Lane L30 7PE.
Family flowers only, but donations can made to Macmillan, (going to set up a Just Giving page.) Details to follow.
Can I please ask if everyone can have a little something red.
A Streaming service is also going to be arranged for people who may not be able to attend.
Thank you
Barb & Holly

That's very sad news , RIP Bernie.
Despite being down here in Kent and actually never meeting, we were friends.
We were in contact around every LFC game and often through a game when he wasn't working at Anfield. He will be missed.
Condolences to Barb, Holly and the family.
Again RIP Bernie. YNWA

Such a shock to hear this morning that 'our' Bernie had died. Met Bernie and Barb at a Bootle get together at Park Street School many years ago, such a lovely couple. I played against him occasionally on online quizzes, he was so knowledgeable. My deep condolences to Barb, Holly, his two other children and their families.
Lived Linacre Lane, Trinity Road & Knowsley Road.

Condolences to Barb, Holly and all the family. Thinking of you.

Every year Bern did a Christmas jigsaw with the help of Holly, this year I am doing one in his name, he was my jigsaw buddy.

I haven't been on the site for a while for various reasons. I have just found out about Bernie passing away. Such a lovely guy, his passion for Liverpool F.C. is well known. He wasn't a bitter red he loved football. Had some fond memories of Bernie and his family at Bootle meetings. Deepest condolences to family and friends

I never met Bernie in person, only a few chats online. We grew up a few streets from each other and knew a lot of the same people. This is such awful news. I'll be up at 5:00 am tomorrow to attend his service online.

Wasn't it just, Ken.
A great send off for very respected friend.
I was hoping to be there but am stuck in Cornwall, feeling quite unwell.

I, too, watched the service, packed church, lovely eulogy which encapsulated all Bernie's qualities. Still find it difficult to comprehend, no more posts from Bernie.
