My old Doc reckoned my neck problems were down to heading wet caseys, Bob.
I got 9 stitches from heading a crossbar, Missus reckons that's the source of my misbehaviour. Funny that, I don't remember banging my head or the misbehaviour Ken

I remember Crilly Ray he wouldn't allow any language on the pitch whatsoever even if you swore at a team mate he'd book you, a little tyrant he was

I don't think it did Ray, we had Moss Lane, Brookvale, Buckley Hill, Chaffers along with private grounds. Orrel Pleasure was however vibrant and had probably the biggest changing rooms in the UK I played my first game there as a 13/14 yo I walked there from Irlam Road with my boots around my neck looking for any team that was short , Bootle Corpy asked me to play for them I ran the opposing full back ragged I got asked to sign on but didn't take up the offer

Hi Ken and Ed
Ask any of the old brigade, Orrell pleasure was the scene, I think you guys came along a bit later and did not realize the history of The Pleasure, it was a legend. I visited Buckley Hill on one of my last visits and honestly it did nothing for me
Cheers

Correct on the timing Ray, I more remember watching my Dad's team Ford Athletic at OP than playing there.
In my day Buckley Hill was new and every pitch used Saturday and later Sundays also and across all age groups. It could be bleak there though as it was flat with no protection from any direction so the wind and rain swept through. Ken

Spot on Henry
Standing room only when the Solly played at North Park, the pitch was surrounded with the crowd. It will never happen again
Cheers
