Watched "The Big Match Revisited" yesterday.
Tottenham v Forest from the 1978/79 season. I'd forgotten the tackles that used to go in.
Kenny Burns went in knee high on Ricky Villa. No rolling on the floor - Villa got up and had to be restrained from thumping Burns.
Villa's socks were in tatters. Burns got a yellow card. No screaming from the commentator (Brian Moore).
Completely different game, unrecognisable from today's football.
If you could get hold of a time machine and go back and show the JOC lads any of todays' games they would think you were having a laugh.
Sky Sports coverage has become a bit of a pantomime. The football is a side show, getting in the way of the "personalities".
I think the only pundit who does a reasonable job is Leon Osman.
