Derek, l worked with Mick and he use to keep loads of records on the teams in the JOC, believe me, he was fantastic on information on the JOC teams in them days, look back on my first post l mention PENTAGON and this all started from my big brother taking me to the games in the JOC when PENTAGON was a great team and some of the lads played for WINDHAM UTD . Got loads of information on this Ronnie Scott, Gerry Bridge, Brian Bromilow, Albie Bell, Micky German, Eddie Lloyd, John Kelly Henry Bradley Ray Mears ( Bootle Lad) and loads more great players.

Derek if l could meet up with you and look at that book it would be great to see it like l said he use to do them at home and at work more at work well that's another story mate :D :D

Billy Simmes was another great manager in the 60s from Bootle

I also played for him (MICK GOODWIN ) and my big brother alongside his son Steve Goodwin who was a great player great left foot, should have made it, in them days along with John Harris great left foot, Gerry Jones what a player and some more l could mention.

What days we had playing in JOC.

l must mention a BIG :D :D :D :D thank you to Dan's input to this post all the EX-PLAYERS from the JOC like reading the articles he puts on and it brings back loads of memories to loads of ex-players from far afield please keep them coming to Dan WHAT A TALKING POINT WHEN HAVING A PINT :D :D :D

l look at some of Dan's articles 1920s football teams in Bootle JOC great teams loads going on for the working people of Bootle.

Keep them articles coming Dan loads of interesting information and loads of people reading your articles this is all history that could have been lost

Well thanks, Eddie Ken and Dan.

I had happy days in the JOC and Crosby and Formby District League like so many others who played in them, leagues.

Lots of us came home from school and looked forward to going to YMCA, Bootle South, and Brunnie :D :D playing football remember them days in the street canal st. my brother Ronnie Scott Gerry Bridge Doug Hastings Brian Munrow Freddie Thomas and loads more John Kelly in the YMCA

Kept us fit as young lads and looking up to our the older players and we had a good social life when we got older having a pint :D :D :D talking about the next game. Loads will remember training and going for a pint after training talking about the next game.

Regards Bobby

Do you remember any good times :D

Bob. We would usually have a pint after training in the Stand Park and maybe two pints after a match on a Saturday.
Then we’d go home, get changed , meet the girls and rendezvous back in the Stand to discuss the match and consume lots more ale whilst the girls chatted and drank Snowballs. Happy Days as you say. Ken

ps I was 49 years married yesterday to the same Snowball drinking girl I took to the Stand

Bootle Corporation FC. Played in Bootle JOC, or Saturday bloodbath as it was known. Don't know the date, but I estimate early 50s, as my Grandad (Front row, 2nd from left) looks about 40
The ground looks like it was the Orrell Pleasure. —
